Gold prices hit record high

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has announced a new gold price increase, with 22-carat gold reaching a record high of Tk126,006 per bhori.

The new rates will take effect from Friday.

As of Thursday, the price for 22-carat gold was Tk124,501 per bhori, meaning an increase of Tk1,505 per bhori.

Masudur Rahman, chairman of Bajus’s Pricing and Monitoring Committee, said in a press release that the increase in gold prices was due to the rise in the price of raw gold.

Under the new pricing, 22-carat gold will be priced at Tk126,006 per bhori, 21-carat gold at Tk120,279, 18-carat gold at Tk103,098 and traditional gold at Tk85,240 per bhori.

Despite the rise in gold prices, silver prices remain unchanged.

Currently, 22-carat silver is priced at Tk2,100 per bhori, 21-carat silver at Tk2,060, 18-carat silver at Tk1,715, and traditional silver at Tk1,28 per bhori.
